174 Walnut Street – An interfaith group providing rest, relationships, resources, and renewal for our homeless community.
Services: showers, laundry, phone/internet, snacks, safe space.
How to help: Volunteer, donate paper goods, powdered drinks, laundry supplies, gently used clothing, or shop at WEAR (461 1st Street).
Event: Greater Macon Sleepout.


Interfaith Coalition Partner

High Street is an active member of the Macon Interfaith Coalition, working with other faith communities to promote justice, compassion, and service in our city.
How to help: Join coalition-sponsored service projects, attend interfaith events, and represent High Street in community partnerships.

Don Lucas Memorial Christmas Tree

A seasonal effort to provide warm clothing for those in need. A Christmas tree in the sanctuary is decorated with gifts of jackets, coats, gloves, sweaters, underwear, and jeans. Items are delivered to Loaves and Fishes.
How to help: Bring warm clothing in December–January.


Macon Pride

High Street is a proud supporter of Macon Pride. We host an interfaith prayer service and table at the festival to show love, inclusion, and solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.
How to help: Volunteer at the prayer service, staff the festival table, or help with setup/teardown.

Loaves & Fishes

651 Broadway – Provides food, clothing, furniture, and bathing facilities for the hungry and homeless. High Street supports through donations and deliveries.
How to help:

  • Serve as a liaison between Loaves & Fishes and High Street.

  • Collect/transport donations.

  • Shop with donated funds or Kroger certificates.

  • Place nonperishable food, clothing, or toiletries on the back hallway shelves.


Share the Plate

On the 2nd Sunday each month, half of non-pledged donations go to a selected charitable organization. Past recipients include Home Port Macon GA, Loaves & Fishes, Macon Outreach, NAACP, and more.
How to help: Give generously on 2nd Sundays.
In 2019 the recipient organizations were HomePortMaconGA (homes for veterans), el refugio (safe visitation space for detained immigrants’ families), All About Animals (no kill dog and cat rescue and placement), Altamaha Riverkeeper (grassroots protection for Georgia’s largest river and watershed), NAACP (relief drive for residents of the closed Crystal Lakes apartments), Parks & Rec (summer camp scholarships), Rebuilding Macon (rebuild homes of challenged homeowners), Macon Volunteer Clinic (free primary medical and dental care to working adult residents), Mentors Project (mentoring high school students needing support outside their families), Path to Shine (after school mentoring), Macon Outreach (food pantry, clothes closet, etc.), and Loaves and Fishes (day life service center for food, clothing, showers, etc.).


Weekend Lunch

Mulberry Street Alley, behind Christ Episcopal Church – Churches in Macon take turns serving meals to the hungry. High Street serves once per quarter.
How to help: On our assigned Saturday/Sunday, arrive 10 AM to help with setup, cooking, serving, and cleanup.
Volunteers needed: 8–10 each time.

What you can do:  Come to Church and give generously on the 2nd Sunday.

Weekend Lunch

Weekend Lunch: High Street members and friends feed the hungry at Weekend Lunch, which is located in the Mulberry Street Alley behind Christ Episcopal Church. People from various churches in Macon prepare and serve food at noon on Saturdays and Sundays. The rotating schedule has High Street providing this service about once a quarter. Usually eight to ten volunteers are needed to make the entire process run smoothly.

What you can do:  Come about 10AM on our assigned days. Wipe and set tables, prepare food to cook, cook, make tea or lemonade, serve, wash pots & pans, and/or clean up. Keep an eye on our newsletter for updates about upcoming opportunities to get involved!
