About Our Board

At High Street Unitarian Universalist Church, our Board of Trustees embodies our UU principles of democratic process, service, and stewardship. The board provides leadership, guidance, and support for our congregation, ensuring that our shared vision and values are reflected in decisions that shape our community.

They meet regularly to:

  • Oversee church programs and initiatives, keeping our mission and values at the heart of all we do.
  • Support the minister and staff, offering guidance while encouraging self-care and well-being for all.
  • Plan and coordinate events that foster connection, learning, and service within our congregation and the wider community.
  • Maintain and care for our shared spaces, ensuring they remain safe, welcoming, and accessible for everyone.
  • Communicate with the congregation, sharing updates and inviting participation, honoring our commitment to transparency and inclusion.

Board Corner Updates

The board met on July 23, 2026 to share updates and plan ways to strengthen our community.

Agenda for Board Meeting, Thursday, July 23, 2026, 7pm


Present: Marie Holliday, Amy Sumpter, Trinity Anderson, Arlen Goff, Spencer Ault, Beth Van Houtte, Jim Scott, Bertram Tulloch, Rev. Amanda Schuber, Debra Clapp

New Business:

  1. Minister’s Report
    Last official meeting! Enjoyed her time with us. She’s communicating with Tina and will continue to do so. She’ll put something in the newsletter. Continue to reach out if anything else is needed and she’ll work it out with Tina.
  2. Treasurer’s Report
  3. Went over budget with building repairs.
  4. Beth and Spencer will look at grants.
  5. We’ll work on getting the 501c3 status
    a. Is this something that Lori Johnson and Laura Moody can help with?
    b. National Trust might have some of the documents associated with our application, including 501c3 documents.
  6. Fundraiser for Rose Heckman fund
  7. Kroger link. Debra has the information for how to join.
  8. Amy mentioned having a spiritual retreat now that we have Tina.
  9. Can sell stickers, magnets, and notepads.
  10. Discussed reaching out to temporarily use the cabin that was previously used. Jim, Marie, or Arlen can reach out since they know the owner already.
  11. The split stopped working in the office. James and Spencer looked at it on Monday. Had an air temp come in on Tuesday. The inside unit has a weak capacitor. The unit is over 20 years old. Estimate to replace the mini split: 3700.
  12. Debra, Mary Lou, and Beth reached out to Barry to see about a grant for the stained glass windows. The company is no longer in business.
  13. Debra advised that more CPR classes have been requested through October by the instructor.
  14. Maybe we can do a 5k and get HP to do the shirts.
  15. Coffee Hour Receptions, 8/23 and 8/30 (and card provided by Trinity)
    i. 8/30 is the welcome reception for Tina at coffee hour.
    ii. Marie is requesting all board members attend on these Sundays and if possible, bring something for coffee hour (food wise) or flowers for the tables.
    iii. Arlen will honor the staff. Arlen will be honored at the 8/30 coffee hour. iv. Trinity will be the point person for Rev. Amanda’s card. Hetty is handling Arlen’s cards.
  16. Motion: “Our Church’s policy is that we do not allow solicitation of personal funds on church property. Requests for such funds Must go through the MDF.” Approved
  17. Other/Debra’s AC
  18. Jim as endowment replacement for Laura Moody. Approved
  19. Old Business:
  20. Policies and Procedures Update, Trinity and Bertram
  21. Trinity will take over from Gaye. She’ll send the summary to Bertram.
  22. Trinity (needs to get a summary over to Debra & get with Rev Amanda for what she wants in the newsletter. Name change for the bank, get with Tucker for a social media post for virtual signing of cards. Calendar of the month and what’s on the days. Trinity will send out a draft to the newsletter members mentioned last month to proofread.
  23. Check File Cabinet, Lights and Doors after each Building Use!
