Many of you may not know that our own Bob Hargrove, in addition to being an Emeritus Professor of Chemistry and Environmental Science at Mercer, is also a retired naval officer with 30 years active and reserve service. While on active duty, he served on USS Clarke County (LST 601) from 1965-67 during the Vietnam conflict. In recent years, he has volunteered aboard USS LST 325 Ship Memorial in Evansville, IN. Today he will talk about how these unique ships, their construction, configuration, and roles as one of the Navy’s first amphibious ships.
